About
the Sweet Potato |
The
Sweet Potato is known as "Nature's
Most Nutritious Vegetable".
It is
virtually fat free, cholesterol
free, and very low in sodium and
provides nearly half of the USRDA
daily requirement of Vitamin C and
four times the daily allowance of
beta-carotene.
Sweet
Potatoes are loaded with
antioxidants (beta-carotene and
vitamins A, C and E), which in many
studies, have helped prevent heart
disease and cancer, bolster the
immune system, and promote good
vision and healthy skin. They
also contain many other essential
nutrients including potassium, iron
and vitamin V-6. |

About Our Operation |
|
|
|
 Vick
Family Farms is a Family owned and managed farm
operation currently farming 5000 acres of cropland since
1975. Jerome and Diane Vick are the
original owners and both oversee day to day operations
on the farm. Diane Vick manages all the labor,
which during the peak season employs 250 workers.
Son
Linwood Vick manages all the cropland. He
plans and prepares the land for planting and follows the
crop all the way to harvest. He was named "Outstanding
Young Farmer for the State of NC" in 2004.
Daughter Charlotte Ferrell is the Office Manager
and stays on top of all FSA rules and regulations.
She was named "National Outstanding Young Farmer"
in 2008. Son-in-Law Dwayne Ferrell
manages the sweet potato packing house, handles sweet
potato sales and shipping.
We grow a
variety of crops including Tobacco, Cotton and Sweet
Potatoes
that are cured and stored in a state of the art
controlled atmosphere storage facility. We
have storage capacity of 200,000 bushels in which
we can offer you The Best Quality Sweet Potatoes on a
year round basis. Here at Vick Family Farms we
have control of quality from our seed stock all
the way to the box. Our brand name is Carolina
Gold and Pure Gold.
